Byron Coley, MA LMFT
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), which means that I have completed my master's degree in marriage and family therapy, completed my training internships, and have obtained full licensure in the state of North Carolina. In my experience, I have worked with a variety of issues within the outpatient setting, community mental health, as well as the hospital setting, where I provided medical family therapy to cancer patients. Along with working in private practice, I am currently pursuing a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy, with the goal of becoming a better clinician.
As a marriage/couples and family therapist, I believe that we are defined by our past experiences, environment, and our relationships. I work primarily with persons in transition: couples trying to reconnect emotionally, individuals transitioning due to divorce or separation, illness and bereavement, and other situations that can result in symptoms such as anxiety, depression, guilt, or anger.
My approach to therapy is solution-focused, in which I help clients find and utilize the strengths they already posses. I work to provide a safe environment for clients to share and explore perceived issues. I believe clients are the key to their own success. When you are in my therapy room, you can expect to be respected, heard and invited into collaborative conversations that matter to you.
